Edimmu is a serpent-like creature that slithers through the waters of Somnus Reef.
Edimmu is a strange looking creature that, while looking largely like a snake, has a few distinct features. First is the head, which appears to look more like that one of a fish rather than a serpent, and which also has a series of tendrils running along the top and bottom of it; secondly, it has two pairs of eyestalks; and third is that it has a tail fin.
Edimmu can also poison Shanoa with a single touch. It can be killed rather easily, though, but due to its aquatic nature it is resistant to ice attacks (e.g.: Grando); for this same reason, it is vulnerable to electric ones, such as Fulgur. It is also weak to slashing attacks, such as Secare.
Interestingly enough, it can be killed instantly if the player is able to decapitate it. That means that the player must focus his/her attacks on the "neck" of the creature, in order to separate the head from the body.
In Sumerian Mythology, an Edimmu is the ghost of a person who wasn't given a proper burial. They are considered to be vengeful against the living, and may possess people who disrespect certain taboos, such as the prohibition against eating ox meat. Edimmu are believed to cause disease and instill vile behavior in the living, but they can be appeased sometimes by funeral repasts or libations. Edimmu were also depicted as wind spirits that drained the life out of the susceptible and the sleeping, particularly children.
- In its appearance, it is similar to an oarfish.
