The Unicorn is a legendary animal which has its origins in Greek mythology. It is usually depicted as a white horse with a spiraling long horn protruding from its forehead, which, as legends say, has healing properties. It appears as a normal enemy in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

OriginsEdit

Unicorn - 01

The Unicorn is a legendary animal that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead. Unicorns are not found in Greek mythology, but rather in the accounts of natural history, for Greek writers on this matter were convinced of the real existence of unicorns, which they located in India, a distant and fabulous realm for them.

In European folklore, the unicorn was often depicted as a white horse-like or goat-like animal with a long horn and cloven hooves (sometimes with a goat's beard). In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could only be captured by a virgin. In the encyclopedias, its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

DescriptionEdit

Instead of the classic depiction of a horned horse, in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness the Unicorn is instead an enemy that resembles a human with the head of a unicorn. It carries a book that uses to attack, usually by summoning harmful runes or by projecting blades from its pages (much like the Magic Tome from Symphony of the Night). They are first encountered in the Infinite Corridor and very rarely drop the Beelzebub's Seal, which is required in order to craft the 7 Bladed Sword.
