The Wailing Way is a location in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. It consists on a large graveyard complex settled along many hills which contains tombstones and mausoleums. Spectral, skeletal and ghostly enemies call this locale "home". It connects directly to the next area, the Shrine of the Apostates, which is just a continuation of the Wailing Way.

Overview[]

An old cemetery that is settled along a series of hills. Proper to a place of these characteristics, the main opposing force is comprised by ghosts of varied types, with the occasional Rock Armor thrown in as well. Several Bone Pillars can also be found deployed on many ledges and staircases. These bony cannons are resistant to fire, so if the player still has the Red Stone attached to their whip (which was likely obtained in the previous area), that would mean that it will take an extra whip strike to destroy them; nevertheless, since other enemies in this area are precisely weak to this element (namely ghosts), then it might be better to either keep it equipped, or re-equip it after dealing with these fiery cannons.

The Logoth's Ring can be found in the upper-left corner of the map. While it is supposed to be picked up later (after obtaining the Sylph Feather), it actually can be picked up on the player's first visit to this place by making use of the Sacred Fist + Ice Book spell fusion, Icicle Knuckle, which will allow them to save the extra height and reach the altar where the ring lies.

This cemetery also holds the game's first Lizard Man, which can be found guarding a door at the rightmost area of the level. Unlike ghosts, the Lizard Man is weak to ice. In any case, the player still won't have the key required to open the door the Lizard Man is guarding, so it is arguable if it's worth fighting it at all.

It's worth mentioning that there are a couple of high ledges the player won't be able to reach on their first visit (either the Griffin's Wing of the Infinite Boots are required to reach them), although the areas where they are located will likely get uncovered on the map as the player passes by, so they should remember to come back to pick them up once they have acquired the necessary means to reach them.
