I think Stone should be combined with Earth to cover all Ground and Rock based elemental attacks.

For covering the status effect of "Being turned to Stone", I think Petrify is a much better descriptor for such a thing. It does not confuse attacking with actual rocks as opposed to turning someone, or being turned into, stone.

After all, Paralysis and Petrify go hand in hand together as Status Modifiers.

I think "Earth" should be the main word used for Earth/Rock/Stone type attributes, as it will not get confused with Stone/Petrify. I prefer the word Stone over Petrify, since it is a noun and all other status modifiers and elemental types are noun. But for the most part, I would prefer the name used in a particular game be referenced.

Stone Vs Petrify[]

Looking at how the words have been used, it looks like the word "Stone" is always used(see List_of_Damage_Types_by_Game). Petrify and petrification may be used in descriptions of items and monsters, but the official name for the status and attack type is "Stone".

There is no damage type called "Rock" according to the official translations. The only game that has an Earth damage type is Circle of the Moon.

I would recommend redirecting the Petrify page to the Stone page and copy its contents over to Stone and reword it a bit.

Stone Damage Calculation[]

If an attack petrifies an enemy, damage inflicted by the attack is always 2. If an attack is inflicted to petrified enemies, the damage is doubled (not 2). --Q-orca (talk) 03:25, November 13, 2014 (UTC)
