I've been playing Portrait of Ruin, and if my understanding is correct then Brauner has NO intention of reviving Dracula. I believe he claimed that he has grown weary of Dracula's FAILED attempts at world domination and conquest each time he came back to life. So Brauner decided to take matters into his own hands by seizing Dracula's castle for himself by using his sinister paintings to gain control over it.

And also, I believe that Death and Brauner do not see eye to eye, as Death serves no one other than Dracula. If memory serves me correctly, Brauner orders that Stella and Loretta focus their energy not on Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Orlean, but on Death instead.

I still have a bit to play in the game, but I'm pretty sure Brauner's intentions do not follow the usual "Revive Dracula" formula.
