Summon Zombie summons a Zombie as an ally from the ground, which then absorbs projectiles and deals damage to enemies, although it works differently depending on the user:
- It is available to Soma Cruz with a Zombie's soul in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and a retro version is available from an R. Zombie's soul in Harmony of Despair. In Dawn of Sorrow, the soul cannot be used in midair. The Zombie will walk a short distance before disappearing.
- Shanoa is also able to summon zombies in Order of Ecclesia with the Fidelis Caries glyph, which can be absorbed during a Necromancer's attack. In this game, however, the glyph works very differently. It deals much less damage but stays around Shanoa permanently until the glyph is switched with another one or canceled. The projectile-absorbing property of the Zombie makes it very valuable when dealing with Bone Pillars. Another Zombie is summoned for every level the glyph gains, up to a maximum of three. Furthermore, since a Necromancer will keep on attempting to cast this glyph, the player can opt to refrain from killing him right away and instead keep absorbing his glyphs until it is fully upgraded (read Notes section below) from the very first encounter with this enemy.

Notes[]
- Familiars in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia reach Level 2 at 32,767 XP, and Level 3 at 65,535 XP, which is their maximum level (the message "LEVEL UP" will appear on the screen whenever a new level has been reached). However, there's no in-game way of checking how much experience a familiar has gained. They gain 3 XP when the familiar hits an enemy, and 2,000 XP when Shanoa absorbs another copy of their own glyph. It takes 17 copies (not taking into account enemies hit/killed by the familiar itself) of the glyph to grow up one level. If the familiar is onscreen at the moment it gains a level, it won't immediately display its new abilities; it must first be sent away and summoned again.
