Portrait of Ruin - Forest of Doom - 03

Stonewall is a defensive, stationary stance passed down in the Morris family.

Game Specific InformationEdit

Castlevania: Portrait of RuinEdit

Stonewall is one of Jonathan Morris's sub-weapon skills in Portrait of Ruin. The stance is maintained by holding on the attack button. This will prevent him from moving and attacking normally, but he also suffers less damage from hits while in the stance. Damage dealt from successful hits on Jonathan while in this stance can actually be reduced to 0, if the attack is weak enough compared to his defenses.

This skill is very useful in completing Wind's quest, "Build Your Strength 4" (raise CON to at least 100), even more than trying to complete it via Charlotte's CON Boost spell and/or with other assets. While active, Stonewall will boost Jonathan's CON and MND to +80. The player just needs to start the quest, equip Stonewall on Jonathan, switch to Charlotte and approach Wind. Before talking to him, though, the partner's skill must be called upon via the R button (this will summon Jonathan performing the stance), and while the button is held, Wind must be talked to. The player will surely already have the remaining 20 CON points required by the time this quest is available.

However, even if Stonewall also increases MND +80, this strategy may not apply if the player wants to complete the "Mental Training 4" quest (raise MND to at least 100), as Jonathan starts the game with a severely low MND stat of 3, which also grows much slower than Charlotte's. So, by the time the quest is first available, Jonathan may still not have all of the remaining 20 CON points required unless he has trained enough, and by that time Charlotte should most likely already surpassed the required amount by casting MIND Boost and equipping MND-raising gear.

Castlevania: Harmony of DespairEdit

Stonewall returns in Harmony of Despair as the Personal Skill of Jonathan Morris. It more or less works much like it did in Portrait of Ruin, enabling him to reduce all damage taken.
