The Shogun Helmet is Nobunaga's helmet in Castlevania.
In Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, it gives 10 Defense, 3 Strength, but comes with a -5 Intelligence penalty. This is not as much as Defense as the Skull Mask (+13 DEF), which does not have a Strength boost, but has smaller penalties across for each of the non-physical statistics (-3 Intelligence, Luck, and Mind).
The Shogun Helmet returns in Harmony of Despair. For the most part, the Shogun Helmet offers roughly the same stats, but in addition to the Intelligence penalty (though this does help with sub-weapon grinding in Survival Mode as a whip user, since their sub-weapons level up by hits not damage), it also inflicts one of the same value on the character's Constitution.
Shogun was the title applied to the chief military from about the 8th century to the end of the 12th century. Later it was applied to the hereditary de-facto rulers of Japan, a position held by several families until 1868. Contrary to the item's description, the real Nobunaga never held the title of shogun. In reality, he was a daimyo (feudal lord) and warlord from the Warring States period (c. 1467 – c. 1603). His power and influence was greater than the actual shogun at the time, Ashikaga Yoshihide, who was restricted in power by Nobunaga and used as a puppet.
