Ryukotsuki (龍骨鬼 Ryūkotsuki?, lit. "Dragon Bone Demon") is the final boss of the 1987 Famicom game Getsu Fūma Den, and also appears as the boss of Chapter 11, The Legend of Fuma, in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
Appearances[]
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]
Ryukotsuki appears as the main boss in Harmony of Despair's DLC chapter, The Legend of Fuma. He transforms into three different forms:
- In his first form, he's just a regular-sized cloaked enemy wearing a horned skull mask. He attacks by shooting fireballs and jumping at the heroes from time to time.
- His second form is a tall warrior with long red hair and heavy armor. He wields a shield and attacks by throwing sai at the heroes.
- In his third and final form, he'll transform into a gigantic dragon-like demon comprised by different kinds of bones, with his arms and legs being made by several skulls. A red orb is encased inside his thoracic cage and serves as the monster's weak spot, although it's impervious to most forms of attack. He attacks by summoning a series of swords to rain on the heroes, by swiping with his claws, by shooting three bouncing fireballs from his mouth, and by summoning an alien-like creature with two heads. His humongous size can also be considered as a form of attack, as he'll advance toward the heroes, reducing their area to maneuver.
Otomedius Excellent[]
Ryukotsuki is a demon from a distant hell and one of Gesshi Hanafuuma's most dangerous enemies. She was resurrected by the Gofer Sisters so they could employ her power against the "G" organization.
Her loyalty is maintained through her personal honor... as well as an invoiced bill for the price of resurrecting her. The amount is ludicrous and intentionally designed to take a long time to pay off. Ryukotsuki occasionally attempts to gamble in order to lower her debt, although this usually goes badly.
Ryukotsuki pilots the Serpent Core, which is a radical core battleship based on Gillador, a boss from the Gradius series, as well as the snake enemies from Neo Contra.
Other media[]
- Ryukotsuki makes a cameo in Chapter 20 of Warera Hobby's Famicom Seminar.
