The Ripple Laser is a Bullet Soul in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. It can be obtained from a Man-Eater and, as its name suggests, allows Soma Cruz to shoot a ripple laser from his hand.
Origins[]
This attack is an homage to a variety of ripple laser attacks which appear in the Gradius series, also by Konami. For example, Soma Cruz's version of this attack in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is reminiscent to the ring shaped lasers used by Moais in several Gradius games, going to the extent of portraying them blue and red colored.
Likewise, both Man Eaters in Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia shoot ripple lasers from their tentacles, although those in Aria of Sorrow resemble the aforementioned ion rings shot by Moais, while those in Order of Ecclesia properly resemble the standard Ripple Laser shot type which a player can choose to equip for the Vic Viper in most Gradius games.
One of Gaibon's and the Armored Sprinter's attacks in Curse of Darkness also resemble the Ripple Laser shot by the Vic Viper. In Dawn of Sorrow, one of Stolas's attacks also resemble the Ripple Laser, and the Bat Company's third form, which resembles a giant Moai head, shoots ion ring Ripple Lasers in a clear reference to the Gradius series.
