Not to be confused with Red Crystal.
For other uses, see Jewel (disambiguation).

Red Jewels are items in Castlevania: Bloodlines, Castlevania (N64), and Legacy of Darkness which can be used to fuel sub-weapons. They are a replacement for Hearts in these games. Red Jewels in Bloodlines are similar to Small Hearts in other games, as they increase your jewel tally by one (Blue Jewels are like Large Hearts and increase its tally by five). In the Nintendo 64 games, Red Jewels come in two sizes, small (5 Jewel Points) and large (10 Jewel Points).

Game specific information

Castlevania: Bloodlines

Red jewels are found mostly in candles. They add one jewel to the overall counter. Replacing the Heart items, these are needed for John Morris and Eric Lecarde to use sub-weapons, with a certain amount being used depending on how the weapon is wielded (if used singularly, it costs only one jewel to use. If an Ultimate Item attack is performed, it will use more).

Rather than slowly floating to the ground like small hearts when the candle is hit, jewels will just simply drop straight down. Instead of starting the game with five jewels in the counter, the player starts off with zero, and ends up starting with zero each time he dies. Also, at the end of level tally, the player will get points depending on how many jewels he has, but the jewel amount will remain the same when starting the next level rather than being depleted.
