Red Crystal - Simon's Quest - 01

The Red Crystal, also called Red Orb, is a red-colored magic crystal that has appeared in Vampire Killer and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Their use is different in either case.

Game specific information[]

Vampire Killer[]

The Red Crystal is used in place of Meat in this game. It replenishes a small amount of HP. It is not as effective as a Potion, which replenishes all HP.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest[]

The Red Crystal has the ability to summon a transportation tornado and also has the abilities of the Blue Crystal (drain water) and White Crystal (view invisible platforms). It is obtained by trading a Blue Crystal from the Vampire Killer in the town of Aldra.

The spirit tornado can be summoned at Deborah Cliff, which is located at the far western portion of the northern section of the Jam Wasteland. The tornado is summoned by kneeling for a few seconds with this crystal equipped while facing the cliff. The tornado will take Simon Belmont from the westernmost part of the game to the most easterly mansion, Bodley Mansion. Just to the west of this mansion is another water logged area that the crystal can aid to enter (kneel for a few seconds at the shore), which will help the player obtain the Flame Whip and enter Laruba Mansion.

Trivia[]

  • The Red Orb from the game Dust: An Elysian Tail is a direct reference to the Red Crystal in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. The reference goes as far as having the same use: the orb must be taken to the topmost part of a cliff (itself being a reference to Deborah Cliff), and kneel and wait for a whirlwind spirit to carry the player to a secret area.
