Polkir is an enemy in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. This creature feasts on the precious memories of its victims.
Origins[]
This creature's origins appear to be based on the Incubus, a creature from the Berserk manga/anime series, which made its debut in 1990.
However, since both the Metroid and the Castlevania series have been often compared to since the release Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, it is more likely that Polkir's origins are linked to Phantoon, an enemy boss which made its debut in Super Metroid (1994).
Description[]
A palette swap of Nominon, which even if sharing some similarities, its attack patterns are different enough to require a different approach when fighting them.
Polkirs first float above their enemies and then unleash a powerful, incandescent beam straight down which then is tilted either left or right, depending on their target's last location, causing immense flames to rise along their trail.
They are remarkably weak, however, and a few strikes from most weapons are usually enough to put them down, making fighting them more a matter of precision than of sheer force.
They drop the Fidelis Polkir glyph, which allows Shanoa to summon a Polkir familiar to fight for her.
