Eight-armed sea creatures, octopuses and squids have made a few appearances along the titles that conform the Castlevania series, as well as some of its spinoffs and other related games. The first octopus enemy to appear in a Castlevania game was an alien octopus encapsulated in a soap bubble in a sea level in Kid Dracula. It did little more than bounce around the edges of the area.
In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Alucard faces a hoard of mutant Dark Octopuses which can live out of the water and fill the area with deadly black ink. This enemy would return in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
Electrical octopus-like enemies called Abiondargs appeared later in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, which move in large numbers around the perimeter of a platform, much like the Fuzz Busters from previous games, although these can be killed by normal means.
In Castlevania Judgment, in the Ghost Ship stage, the tentacle of a Giant Squid will occasionally appear to harass the combatants. It attacks by heavily slamming on the floor, knocking down any characters it hits, or, in the worst case scenario, drag them down to the water, causing an instant death.
