Nobutoshi Hayashi (林 延年 Hayashi Nobutoshi?), better known by his stage name Nobutoshi Canna (神奈 延年 Kanna Nobutoshi?), is a Japanese voice actor and singer who works at Aoni Production. He is famous for the role of Guts in the original 1997 anime adaptation of Berserk.
Nobutoshi voiced Leon Belmont, protagonist of the PlayStation 2 game Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
Biography[]
Originally a child actor. After working at Nippon Children's and Souta Office, Nobutoshi Canna moved from Aomori Gekidan to Aoni Production.
Canna's mother saw his acting potential from an early age and inscribed him in a theater company. He made his acting debut at the age of 3, appearing in commercials and films, but took a hiatus to focus on his studies when he was in junior high school. Shortly after graduating from high school, he dropped out of university and wondered what to dedicate his life to for some time. One day, he discovered a leaflet for the Theater Company Seito, which gave him the idea of becoming a stage actor, and so he did. After working as a stage actor, he made his voice acting debut in 1991 as Prince Frank in the animated television series Dragon Quest, and had been working in voice acting ever since.
At the beginning of his acting career, he was credited under his real name, Hayashi Nobutoshi, but on January 1, 2000, he changed his stage name to Kanna Nobutoshi; this with the intention of sharpening both him as a person, as well as his acting skills.
