|Mythical Lore Origins|
A Mud Man is a monster from the Castlevania series. It is usually found in the swamp settings of the games they appear. They are essentially animated mud.
The monsters come into being and don't attack directly, as they exhibit the qualities of a mindless creature. Usually when one Mud Man is encountered, an infinite number of Mud Men will be summoned to aimlessly walk the swamp.
Mud Men are known for the relative ease by which they can be destroyed, but are a deadly threat to anybody unlucky enough to fall into the swamps from which they are born, as they can be conjoured from any point in the swamp, and will deal damage when a player comes into contact with them. Sometimes they break off a little at a time when struck and the mud may coalesce to form smaller mud-men.

Castlevania: Dawn of SorrowEdit
The Mud Demon appears in the sandy parts of The Abyss. It behaves much like the Procel enemy, being that it is a head made out of the material it resides in, and uses attacks made out of the material it resides in. The soul it drops is an Ability Soul that unhinders movement in sand. It's not technically a useful soul, but it makes traveling through The Abyss much faster.
Castlevania: The AdventureEdit
Mud Man (mispelled as "Mad Man" in the manual) falls from the top of the screen as mud and takes the form of a human to chase the player.
Dawn of SorrowEdit
In DoS, Mudman is the last ability soul. He lets you move through mud freely.
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin / Castlevania: Symphony of the NightEdit
In some games such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Mud Men have a technique where if they get close enough to a hero, they will burst open their chest and stick out what appears to be large metal spikes with which to pierce them. Whether or not they are metal spikes has yet to be determined, but it is an interesting ability for the Mud Men.
