Moonstone

Moonstone is a gemstone that improves status after sunset. It appears in a necklace in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It improves statistics between 6pm and 6am game time. In Symphony of the Night, it improves many statistics by +5 (Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Luck) between 6pm and 6am. It is the counterpart to the Sunstone. The Moon Ring provides a similar function in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.

In the Saturn version of the game, the time is based on the current system clock setting, while in the PSX version (and all other ports) it is based on the total playtime, imagining the game to begin at midnight; "dawn" is therefore at 6 hours of play time, while "sunset" is after 18 hours. This continues to cycle at 12 hour intervals.
