  • Hello Kevz. How have you been?

I wanted to ask if you're planning on returning to the wiki anytime soon? For the time being, your name has been taken down from the navigation bar. In case you cannot reply to this message, or if you decide you don't want to retake your charge as an administrator, your rights will be removed in the next few days, although we'll consider restoring them if you eventually decide to come back.

I hope to hear from you soon.

    Regards.

  • Hello KevzMarz:

Please refrain from doing changes to the MediaWiki. If you want to add something, it's better to start a discussion with the other admins first. Remember that these changes affect all of our visitors and what may sound like an excellent addition to the wiki for you, could upset others.

    Regards.

  • Hi Kevz.

Would you like to become an administrator for the wiki?

  • At the end of LOS, I didn't really get the part when Marie said "I knew I could not tell you or despair would have eroded your resolve and everything would have been lost". What does she mean by that.  The only thing I find that explain this is "she didn't fully trust him or his good heart" but I'm not sure if that's right. Can you help me with this?

P.S  I know I send you this once but you didn't reply back and I try asking others but they didn't reply back either. if you still won't reply, I'll keep sending this until you or someone else does.

  • Hi Kevz, glad to make your acquaintance.

I've recently started a poll regarding a new color scheme theme design for the wiki and I'd love to hear your opinion.

Please follow this link and make your vote count!

Best regards. Have a nice day. :)

  • Hi Kevz.

I suspect you've already noticed this, but just in case you don't. Jonathan's skills and Richter's sub-weapons which happen to have the same name are conflicting when put in, say, an Item Data table.

For example, if I try to put the Holy Water skill and the Holy Water sub-weapon templates in the same table, this happens:

    Item Data: Holy Water
    Image Name - Game
    Description
Type / Users Attributes / Consume Statistics / Sell Found Notes
Subweapon PoR Icon Holy Water - Portrait of Ruin [ edit ]
Blessed water that wards off evil. Sub-Weapon
    Jonathan
    Attrib: Fire, Holy
    Consume: 25 MP
    Find: Entrance (reward from Wind)
Conditions: Complete "The Statue's Tear" quest.
Effect: Throws a holy water vial on the ground.
Special: Mastered - The holy fire travels a distance forward.
    Evolve: 2,000 SP to master.
Holy Water PoR Icon Holy Water - Portrait of Ruin [ edit ]
    ' Sub-Weapon
    Richter
    Attrib: Holy
    Consume: 14 MP
    Find: Starts with
Effect: Throws a vial of holy water on the ground, with the flame quickly traveling forward.
Special: Only available in Richter Mode.

As you can see, Richter's sub-weapon appears twice, even if both items have a different index_name. Do you know how to fix this?

I was thinking in changing Richter's index_name version to something like: (Richter Mode) Holy Water, but I don't know if that will work.

    Thanks for reading, bye.

    • Test # 3:

      Item Data: Holy Water
      Image Name - Game
      Description
Type / Users Attributes / Consume Statistics / Sell Found Notes

Edit - The "Holy Water" index (of Jonathan) causes the issue.
Fixed - Renamed Jonathan's Holy Water to JHolyWater and Richter's to RHolyWater. I'm guessing that the spaces caused the problem...

    • Nice, works like a charm. I just changed the index names a little to:

      • Axe_J and Axe_R
      • Holy_Water_J and Holy_Water_R
      • Boomerang_J and Boomerang_R
      • Left Cross as it is.

      Thanks for everything. Bye.

  • Hi there, Kevz.

Something has always bothered me about Portrait of Ruin, and seeing how you're currently so into that game, I though I'd ask you. Is the player restricted to have only five quests maximum at a given time? Isn't there a way to start a new quest which I know should already be available but don't appear because there is not at least one free "quest slot".

    Thanks in advance. Cheers.

      Loading editor
    • Yes, and unlike Order of Ecclesia, you can only have 5 at a given time, as it is the maximum number of quest slots in Portrait of Ruin. Once you have 5, you cannot accept new quests. You must then clear a quest to free the slot, allowing you to take another one.

In my first playthrough, the "Poison vs. Poison" was stuck in its slot because I already sold the Long Sword, not knowing that it is a requirement for the quest. Therefore I find it impossible to complete until I started a New Game Plus.

And there is also a Quest Item Duplication Trick from this guide, you might want to check it out.

    • Thank you. I'm kind of sure I once watched a YouTube video with a guy scrolling through Wind's quests (I mean HIS quests, not the ones from the pause menu), but most likely my mind is playing tricks on me again.

I'm gonna give the game another run. As you can see, the last two days I've been updating the game's locations pages, but something I really want to know now is when Wind makes available the "The Nest of Evil" quest. I'm quite positive it's immediately after healing the twisted sisters, but I want to be sure.

Oh, by the way, are you gonna end the PoR Items inventory section soon? I'm refraining from editing it as I'd prefer you finish first, lest I totally screw up your work.

      Thanks for replying, man. Toodles!

    • The PoR Items are so many, and difficult for me to handle (I have been, and will be busy in school) - it might not be finished soon if I would be the only one filling up the details. So yeah, you can continue adding info to it as I won't be spending much time online in Wikia for this week.

I obtain the info from Castlevania Crypt, but the shop prices are from Chapel of Resonance

    • Gotcha. I'll put my sticky hands on it then.

      Thx.

  • Is there a particular reason why you would include Dawn Of Sorrow but not Draculas Curse?

      Loading editor
    • I haven't played Dracula's Curse at all, but seeing that the article mentioned about choosing one of three as additional characters, then it might as well be included in the Game Specific Info.

The Dawn of Sorrow was included because in Julius Mode, the placement of the Character icon in the HUD are similar to that in Portrait of Ruin. The thing is that the player can only switch control between them, and cannot call an AI-controlled character.

  • Hi, Kevz:

Just a little heads up. Since we never came up with a manual of style for the site, most users contribute with their own ideas, and if they catch up, somehow are accepted as the format most users will follow. However, there are some ideas that because of their frequent usage have become more or less a staple here, and I thought you might find interesting these few tips I'll list next. I'll try my best not to make you read long articles, but some of them are just written that way. However, you may find them interesting and enjoyable as long as you red them one at a time:

    Naming conventions

    1. Naming Conventions - To know the proper names items, enemies, etc. should be named.
    2. List of Damage Types by Game - To know how each attribute or element is referred to in each game.

    Files and Images

Underscores should always be removed from files' names (mainly images), and the syntax: [[File:NAME.png]] should always be used over [[Image:NAME.png]].

For example, instead of leaving an image as:

    [[Image:Celia_Cruz_is_the_daughter_of_Celia_Fortner_and_Soma_Cruz.png]]

    ...you should change it to:

[[File:Celia Cruz is the daughter of Celia Fortner and Soma Cruz.png]]

    Writing Articles

You should avoid using the second person while writing an article. This means basically trying not to use the term "you", and keep your text as informal as possible.

    Sections

Most galleries and sections should be arranged in the order each title was released. Be sure to check this link for a list of most games and the year they were released:

And as for the order sections are arranged within each article, I always follow this arrangement:

    • [Head Quote]
    • [Summary]
    • Origins
    • General Information (Description, Overview, Background)
    • Game Description (In-Game Description)
    • Appearances (Game Specific Information)
    • Quotes
    • Enemy Data
    • Soul Data
    • Item Data
    • Additional Information (Notes)
    • Gallery
    • Videos (External Videos)
    • Background Music (Music)
    • Trivia
    • Related Locations
    • Related Products
    • See also
    • References
    • External Links
Note: Titles in parentheses are alternative names for that section, if they fit better.

Hope I was of any help. Keep up the good work!

    • Now I know how to properly name the image files that I would upload next time. As well as avoiding the term "you" in writing gameplay tips. Thanks for the heads-up!

The thing that I am focused on doing on this wiki as of now is to complete the templates for the Order of Ecclesia Inventory. The accessories and back glyphs are the only ones unfinished (as I have already completed the head/body/legs, you might want to check them out for errors, or improper syntax). After this, I would add the OoE info to the individual items.

I have skipped the maintenance for the individual pages of the Innocent Devils for now, since I do not know what template to copy in creating both the I.D. Infobox and the I.D. Ability templates..

    • Infobox Innocent Devil - 01

      Yeah, I know... :P

I also tried to make the Innocent Devils' infobox, taking the Infobox Location template as reference. Unfortunately, I'm CSS impaired and couldn't make it look the way I wanted to. However, I'd suggest you hang on to it, because our bureaucrat is currently on a job trip and he won't be back until September. He's the one who normally manages all infoboxes.

Here's a rough (quite rough indeed) idea of how I had visualized it. →

But again, let's wait until he's back, okay?

    • Oh, just another tip (which you may actually know already, but meh...). If you're using DesMuMe, you can take screenshots at the press of a single button! All you have to do is go to:

      Config → Hotkey Config

Now, from the dropdown menu, select Tools and in the Quick Screenshot field put the key with which you want to take your screenshots (usually F12). They'll be automatically saved to the directory specified in Config → Path Settings. However, their resolutions will be fixed at only 240px I believe (can't remember).

When I take mine, I instead use PrntScrn, paste them in MSPaint and crop them with an online photo editor.

        Loading editor
    • I don't actually use an NDS emulator in my PC, but I use the DraStic for my Android phone.

... I get those screenshots from YouTube vids (720p) and also use either the PrintScrn-MSPaint method or the Snipping Tool to get them.
