The Max Slimer is a boss in the Castlevania series. It is a gigantic variant of the common Slime.

Description[]

A gigantic, gelatinous blob of slime that tends to crawl over floors and ceilings. It usually moves, lunges, jumps, or drops toward its victims when they come near, many times inflicting diverse status ailments. When struck, little blobs of slime will come out from it and the main body will gradually lose mass until it is finally destroyed.

Appearances[]

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance[]

The Max Slimer is the boss of the Clock Tower in Castle A, and guards the first regular portal between both castles. Its room is a massive laboratory filled with large glass capsules containing an unknown substance. One of them is broken, suggesting that's where the creature escaped from.

The Max Slimer is a larger form of the regular Slime enemies and attacks in a similar manner. It oozes around the room, occasionally jumping and inching slowly toward Juste. If he attempts to jump over the slime, it will rise up and cling to the roof overhead. It continues to inch toward Juste's location. Once he is directly below it, it unleashes segments of itself overhead, reforming from the roof back onto solid ground. Like its smaller brethren, the Max Slimer can change its color. Depending on which color it has turned to, it will inflict a different type of status ailment on contact:

When hit, the boss will shrink a little bit and shed Tiny Slimes around it. The majority of its offensive capabilities comes precisely from these slimes, which can crowd the room if not immediately taken care of. Despite of this, the Max Slimer is a very easy boss and cannot withstand a concentrated attack.

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth[]

The Jelly[1] returns as an amoeba-like creature in The Adventure ReBirth. It first appears in Stage 1 under the floor, attacking the player as they move along. It cannot be reached here, however, and thus cannot be harmed.

It later reappears in Stage 2 as the level's mid-boss, and tosses skulls around the room. At first, it may seem to be invincible, but when damaged enough it will reveal its pink core, which is its weak spot, and which it shifts around its body in order to protect it.
