The Mandragora is a creature based on the real-life Mandrake plant, which has vaguely human-shaped roots and is often attributed to be an aphrodisiac, or have magical properties. Legends of lethal, screaming Mandragoras date as far back as Josephus, and the myth is prevalent enough that they even appear in the Harry Potter books and films.

Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of DarknessEdit

Mandragora is an important item found in the Castle Center. Its roots are contained in a vial. Placing it nearby a Magical Nitro will cause it to cause a delayed explosion, which is enough to destroy a large wall in the chamber of the Mammoth Bull Demon, and gives the hero enough time to seek shelter.

Castlevania: Circle of the MoonEdit

The Mandragora enemy never appears in the game, but it is a DSS card, representing the element of plant, and thus producing many plant-like effects when combined with other cards. When the Uranus card is gained, the Mandragora can be summoned, doing massive damage.

Castlevania: Aria of SorrowEdit

The Mandragora is a harmless plant when in the ground, but when uprooted by a skeleton it screams, severely damaging Soma if nearby. Its soul is a screen-wide damaging blast.

Tip: to get Mandragora's soul you need to wait until the skeleton pulls it from the ground (if you do it right the monster's name appear in right bottom corner).

Castlevania: Dawn of SorrowEdit

The Mandragora uproots itself without the help of a skeleton. It also does less be damage. For its soul, Soma tosses an exploding Mandragora like a hand grenade, which does massive damage to enemies. For some strange reason, Mandragora cannot be boosted by the Skeleton Farmer Soul. In addition to that, it cannot level up.

Castlevania: Portrait of RuinEdit

The Mandragora functions the same as in Dawn of Sorrow, only without dropping a soul.

Castlevania: Order of EcclesiaEdit

The Mandrake Root which Mandragora drops is an item required for Abram's quest.

Castlevania: Lords of ShadowEdit

See Main Page at Mandragora (Lords of Shadow)

The Mandragora in this game represent fully grown mandrake roots that drain the life force of those who pass by.
