Konami Lady (コナミレディー Konami Redī?) is the female counterpart to Konami Man and one of Konami's most renowned mascots. While she has not appeared in any Castlevania games to date, she is present in some crossover games and other media that include Castlevania characters.

Background[]

Konami Lady is an android created by Dr. Cinnamon (from the TwinBee series). She appears as a playable character in Konami Wai Wai World, where her main form of attack is by kicking. This style of fighting is presumably the basis for Maria Renard's kicks in the Sega Saturn version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

In Konami's Wai Wai World game book, she sets off to Dracula's Castle to rescue Simon Belmont.

Laura, an enemy introduced in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, at one point during her battle sheds off the long dress she wears and reveals an apparel underneath that strikingly resembles that of Konami Lady, consisting on a one-piece black suit and long boots, and featuring a pair of cat-like ears that would make for Konami Lady's wing ornaments on her head.

Konami Lady also appears as a professor at St. Gradius Academy (where both Kokoro Belmont and Gesshi Hanafuuma attend to classes) in Otomedius Excellent, and fights the students as a boss in the training stage.

She also appears as an outfit during the "KONAMI 50th Anniversary Wai Wai Collab" event from Bombergirl and "Haruno! Wai Wai Sutanpukādo Kyanpēn" event from Quiz Magic Academy: Kiseki no Kōsa -Xross Voyage-.

Trivia[]

  • In her appearance in Otomedius Excellent, Konami Lady wears a scarf with the colors of the classic Konami logo, orange and red.
  • Athena - 01

    Princess Athena

Konami Lady bears some resemblance to SNK's Athena, the heroine of the 1986 platformer game of the same name, although it's unknown if Konami Lady's design was inspired by her. However, it's worth mentioning that later redesigns for both characters further accentuated their similarities, such as both being given a double-colored ribbons motif (in Konami Lady's case it's a scarf, whereas in Athena's they are two colored ribbons coming from the hilt of her sword), as well as angel-like wings added to Athena's sandals, much like Konami Lady's head ornaments.
