The Killer Mantle is a cape which appears to be possessed by an evil force. This enemy simply floats around the room, only occasionally brandishing a small curved dagger and lunging toward Soma. Its soul, a Bullet-type, grants him the Astral Veil ability, which switches an enemy's HP and MP, making it the most dependable way to defeat an Iron Golem (which has 9,999 HP but only 1 MP), and is also an instant kill against Red Minotaurs. It can be a double-edged sword, however, as magic-inclined enemies can end up with 9,999 HP and low MP.

Origins

The Killer Mantle may be based on the Aka Manto, or "Red Cape", a Japanese urban legend. It is said to be a disembodied male voice that haunts public bathrooms, often the last stall in the women's toilets. When a woman sits on the toilet, it asks if she would like a red cape. Answering "yes" results in being stabbed repeatedly in the back. The wounds kill the woman, leaving her back bloody and giving the impression she is wearing a red cape.
