The Jagdplaute (or Hunter Sword) is an 18th Century French deer hunting sword. It is used in concert with a pack of dogs, which would wear out the deer. The sword was then used to cut the legs off to prevent it from running any further.
The Jagdplaute appears in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. This sword reduces defense slightly, perhaps because it was never intended for use in self-defense. It is essentially a Bastard Sword except that it reduces your defense by one. It is 3 attack higher than the Damascus Sword, except it is one less in defense. It can only be obtained from the giant brother Blade, which can be found in Olrox's Quarters en route to the warp room.
