Dead horses, in various degrees of completeness appear often in Castlevania.

Four floating severed horse heads, called Mr. Heds, appear in the stables of the first stage of Super Castlevania IV. Its English name is a ridiculously obvious pun on Mister Ed, the talking horse. They lie in wait, suddenly charging when Simon Belmont nears. The last one hangs from the ceiling and flies at Simon rather than attacking at ground level. At the end of the stables is a full Skeleton Horse that spits fire and is ridden by the skeleton knight, Rowdain. The Ghosts in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia look like Mr. Hed with a ghostly aura around it.

The Valhalla Knight and Dullahan in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, and the Dead Warriors gallop back and forth on horses that are missing their hind side. This horse pulls a chariot for the Gladiator in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, which shoots arrows. Nightmare is a similar horse, which may or may not have a rider, which has a skeletal back half, but a fleshy front half.

Anthropomorphic horses, such as Amduscias, the Were-Horse, and the Unicorn have also appeared in Castlevania games (see Horse-Headed Enemies for more details).
