Gwendolyn was the girlfriend of Eric Lecarde. She was turned to a vampire by the countess Elizabeth Bartley soon after she was revived. Her fate is unclear, but it does appear that Eric was unable to change her back to a human and he may have been forced to destroy her. Her turning is the catalyst that motivates Eric to hunt down the vampire countess.
