Zoe Belmont is a supporting character in Castlevania: Order of Shadows. She is the elder of Desmond's two sisters. She and Dolores enter the mansion ahead of Desmond in order to find the inner sanctum (and consequently the sacrificial altar).

History

Zoe and his brother Desmond and younger sister Dolores are members of the ancestral Belmont Clan of vampire hunters during the 1600s. A recently formed group of followers of the Dark Lord, known as The Order, seek to resurrect Count Dracula, hoping to receive in exchange greater power and eternal life.

Sensing the connection between The Order and Dracula, the three siblings head to the Eternal Night forest and find a hidden mansion nearby where The Order is suspected to convene. While Desmond heads onward on a frontal attack, Zoe and Dolores decide to each go on their own way in order to cover more ground, hoping to find the inner sanctum that holds the sacrificial altar where they expect to find the sect's leader, Rohan Krause, whom is also suspected to be the responsible for their parents' deaths nearly 20 years ago.

At one point, Zoe reunites with Desmond and gives him a magic gauntlet she found and which was in possession of The Order, with which he can employ alchemical abilities to his attacks. Later on, all three siblings converge at the sanctum's entrance. Zoe and Dolores decide to go back into the mansion to search for more clues, while Desmond continues onward.

Desmond manages to find and defeat Krause and a recently resurrected Dracula. Zoe and Dolores arrive at this precise moment only to see the Count muttering his last words and fading away from this world.

Trivia

• The magic gauntlet Zoe gives to Desmond during the course of the story is presumably the same Magic Gauntlet Leon Belmont used in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence and which was powered by Rinaldo Gandolfi, Giovanni's ancestor.
• The names "Zoe" and "Dolores" may be inspired by the anime television series Z.O.E.: Dolores,i, set in the Zone of the Enders universe, another Konami franchise.
