The Spinning Chain is an aerial whip combo finisher in the Lords of Shadow games. It is performed by holding the Area Attack button down while descending and can be performed after any non-finishing aerial attack.
In Lords of Shadow, Gabriel first performs his normal Area Attack in the air and then switches direction of his swing as the whip spins all the way around himself.
In Mirror of Fate, after performing the initial Area Attack in the air, the whip switches direction and makes a 360° swing in a circle. This creates a whirlwind that sucks up all nearby enemies and damages them in the process. This move can be extended with the Spinning Chain Final. If the Area Attack button is still being held when the player lands, the player will dart forward while spinning the chain in a circular Chain Saw like motion, similar to Gabriel's Ground Cutter move in Lords of Shadow.
The Chaos Claws equivalent is the Smashing Claw. The Void Sword equivalent is the Smashing Cut.
