Umbra (Latin for "Shadow") is the main Darkness Elemental Glyph and represents the power of the Darkness element. Variations of this glyph exist, including the base Umbra, Vol Umbra ("Shadow Will"), and the Sickle Glyph Umbra Reptilia ("Reptilian Shadow"). An Umbra glyph is also utilized in Albus's Optical Shot.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]
There are two Umbra Darkness Glyphs in Order of Ecclesia, although they are not the only Darkness Glyphs in this game:
- Umbra - Summons an elongated ghost, which meanders around the screen seeking targets.
- Vol Umbra - Allows Shanoa to shoot orbs of Darkness energy, although the range is limited.
Umbra Glyphs can be paired with another type of glyph to perform the following Glyph Unions:
- Any Darkness Glyph (Union Umbra) - Dark balls are summoned at the positions of several enemies on the screen, expanding and damaging them.
- Any Light Glyph (Universitas) - A tear in the fabric of space and time appears in the background, from which meteors damage all enemies on the screen.
- Any Weapon Glyph (Pluto) - Shanoa swings a giant dark Sickle.
Albus's Optical Shot also utilizes an Umbra glyph.
Castlevania Judgment[]
During part of her Glyph of Gales Super Finisher move in Castlevania Judgment, Shanoa summons dozens of Vol Umbra and Vol Luminatio –dark and light– orbs and then sends them toward her opponent.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls[]
Shanoa has a Sickle Glyph Umbra Reptilia in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. It is listed as a Fire Glyph with the Lamp of Dawn Fire Dawn Sphere skill. It is possible that this is a mistake however, and that it is intended to be a Darkness Glyph with a darkness based Dawn Sphere. This skill would essentially be a much larger version of the Vol Umbra spell.
Albus's Optical Shot also appears in this game, which utilizes an Umbra glyph.
