The Forest of Eternal Night is a location in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. It is a forest located somewhere in Europe. By the dawn of the 11th century, the forest housed the castle of a powerful vampire lord named Walter Bernhard, where it remained hidden until a mighty warrior, heir to the House of Belmont, was able to infiltrate it and slay the vampire, destroying the castle in the process.

Overview

Walter allowed a previous adventurer, named Rinaldo Gandolfi, to live in a small cottage located in the outskirts of the castle, where he set a shop to aid those who wanted to venture further, in search of destroying Walter once and for all. The forest was perpetually shrouded in darkness and was used by Bernhard in his cat-and-mouse games with unfortunate victims.

The forest laid outside of Lord Belmont's domain. In 1094, an army of monsters sent by Bernhard entered Belmont's land and his betrothed, Sara Trantoul, was kidnapped in the siege. Belmont renounced his title to go into the forest and save her. After Bernhard was destroyed, light returned to the forest.

Notes

• The Forest of Eternal Night is alluded once again in the mobile game Castlevania: Order of Shadows, which shares a non-canonical continuity to Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. In the game, a meadow lies near this forest, where a new antagonistic group called The Order is known to convene inside a secret mansion.
