The Sword of Etheria is an action and role-playing video game developed and published by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET). It was originally released on June 30, 2005 for Sony's PlayStation 2 as OZ (Over Zenith) (オズ Ozu?) in Japan, and as Chains of Power in Korea, followed by its release in Europe on February 24, 2006. The game was not released in the United States. It was reprinted in Japan on January 26, 2006 as part of the "Konami the Best" budget label.

Features[]

One of The Sword of Etheria's main characters is named Leon, a male katena with a large claw on his left arm. He is technically based on the Cowardly Lion from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but since he shares his name with Leon Belmont, from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, and also because the creators had roles in the development teams of both games,[1] Konami tied the two characters together in an Easter egg. In addition, there could also be a connection between Etheriaʼs Leon using a big claw on his left arm and Leon Belmont's left gauntlet, which Rinaldo Gandolfi enchanted so he could block enemy attacks and gather energy from them.

Leon Belmont's costume can be unlocked in this game, called the "Belmondo Outfit" (ベルモンドの衣装 Berumondo no Ishō?), which when worn makes Leon's 'Deathblows' to be imbued with the thunder element. Its in-game description reads: "The clothes of a brave man from another world.", likely referencing the Castlevania character.

In order to unlock this outfit, the game must have been cleared at least once and have it registered on the memory card. After recruiting Leon during the next playthrough, the costume will become purchasable for $60,000.[2]

Other cameos[]

In addition to Leon Belmont's outfit, other costumes from other Konami series can be unlocked as well. These include three costumes from Suikoden III characters (Flame Champion, Koroku and Kogoro), one costume from Silent Hill 3 (Robbie the Rabbit) and one costume from Tokimeki Memorial 3.
