Block 6S (Route 10) is the special block of the game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. It is the Sunken City, also known as the Sunken City of Poltergeists and the Sunken Temple of Sarnath.

Sub-sections[]

Note that sub-section names are unofficial.
  • 6-01: Sunken Fortress - Enter from the left over a large bridge over water, then jump down to the lower level to fight a Skull Swordsman. Jump over sections of water to the tops of partially submerged ancient city buildings. Head down and left in a Fishman infested flooded area, and then back up. Continue hopping across submerged buildings leftwards until coming across a Skeleton Dragon guarding the door and get past it.
  • 6-02: Collapsed Section - Hop across sunken pillar platforms leftwards along a section where some pillars that have fallen down, fighting more Fishmen and some Bats along the way. Get past the next Skeleton Dragon at the next door.
  • 6-03: Temple of Sarnath - Continue left and enter the main temple building. Fight more Skeleton Dragons. Head up and enter a golden section of the temple and then face the Bone Dragon King. Before killing it off, it punches a hole through the ceiling and water starts gushing in from it as the water levels begin to rise.
  • 6-04: Rising Waters - Exit the main temple and head right while the water levels continue to rise and the background music Pressure begins to play, fighting Fishmen along the way. Make it across crumbling blocks and to higher ground before the water reaches you.
  • 6-05: High Ground - Head left while the water continues to rise and then when making it to the upper left, finish off what's left of the Bone Dragon King. The water will stop rising only once you've collected the boss orb.

Trivia[]

Other appearances[]

The Sunken City has reappeared in several later games, including:

Other places have been inspired by the Sunken City, including:

Assuming that the Sunken City is the same as the similar locals in other games, the Sunken City is located between the shores of a large lake (possibly Yuba Lake) and the inlet to that lake of a large river (possibly the Dead River). Nearby, that river empties from the lake in a large waterfall. This geography can be seen in the Stage Map for Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge and is consistent with its appearances in several games. There are three known ways to access the city. One is through the Underground Passageway, which can be accessed near a Swamp (possibly the Denis Marsh and/or Joma Marsh). This route was taken in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. This passageway is also connected to Dracula's Castle and allows travel between the castle and the city. This route to or from the castle was taken in Dracula's Curse and Dracula X. The other way is over the nearby waterfalls. This route was taken in Super Castlevania IV and Rondo of Blood.
