So here we are again! (You were incredibly indirectly warned this was going to happen, though!) Another round of holding Richter's hand as he is led directly to where all the highly-distressed damsels in waiting await a hunter to help them overcome the impassible barriers that keep them captive.
However, let's be fair, not even Richter can gain access without somehow discerning exactly where the entrance to they've been spirited away... and in most cases, a key is also somewhere nontrivially located just to complicate things further.
Stage 7, Clocktower: Hear Now the Requiem of Blood
Anyway, I'm fairly sure we've been waiting impatiently on this one since before we even (vicariously) encountered Dracula for the first time, seeing as how I'm a bit of an addict to visiting hidden locations... and Richter had a boo-boo and needed some chicken from an egg to avoid an untimely demise. Boo hoo, burly hunter man...
Oh, and the all-too-obvious and telltale barred doorway that the incredibly visible key held by a very particular enemy come to roost... y'know, things that you obviously shouldn't have been paying attention to yet...because that wasn't the time yet! But now is the time! You have my permission to notice these things, Richter!
Anyway, besides all that and somehow having to be able to notice a rare and singular instance of an interactible gear to open a wall that we ought to have no notion whatsoever might be a door... the barred entryway to Annette is pretty simple! Even Maria's key took more doing to get it to the door it belonged to, right?
Now for another rousing round of rewrite the otherwise unintelligible (to most who ind their way here, anyway) ramblings! As this is the long-awaited reunion of two seemingly star-crossed lovers (I mean just look at how long it took Richter to figure out she was even here!), we'll have to make this one extra-steamy, right?!
"Listen, there's something I need to tell you."
"Yes, I thought so."
"I am a vampire hunter, as you know..."
"That's why I must meet the master of this castle... my heart cries out for him and I know we are meant to be."
"I'm sorry, but I have to go to him."
"No, you mustn't!"
"To deny what's in my heart would be wrong... that is why I must go to him and follow my dreams!"
"Richter! Wait! Richter!"
"It's... it's not fair... for I have fallen in love with the master as well."
And that's the truth of it... everyone wants Dracula, no exceptions! And this is surely not some manner of bad fanfiction written by the Ice Ki--err, I mean The Lord of Darkness himself... that'd be goofy. You're crazy. (Besides, you know you also love the silver foxes!)
Unfortunately, as is the storied history of the Castlevania series, everybody has these feelings... but none can ever satisfy the master. It's also worth noting that all of his suitors in this fashion are men... the only women have ever been declared non-canon, occurred in an obviously non-canon side story, or had no emotions of her own and thus could not pursue him. So, really, Annette never had a chance... I'm sorry, Annette!
Experts in absurd revisionist history will note that Sypha Belnades, having pretended to be a man, came the closest, but the ruse was found out... so instead, she and Trevor had to settle for one another after they too had been found wanting.
... ... ...
...and hopefully nobody took unnecessary offense at a completely ridiculous thought exercise. Hopefully for them, I mean, I don't particularly care... but the offended will obviously feel that they've been unnecessarily slighted, when in fact it is merely unnecessary for them to feel that way. (Now THAT'S a truly insincere non-apology!)
In consolation, you know you'll get to have the REAL version of events revealed to you very soon.
And... just to cap off our little excursion, how's about we let Rick play around on one of the many gear platforms just for the heck of it?!
