The Dark Armor, also called Shadow Armor or Shadow Knight, is an enemy in the Castlevania series. He is a strong knight who sold his soul to the Devil.

Dark Armor[]
The Dark Armor can send vortexes imbued with Darkness energy from his blade. While they're less powerful than Devil Armors, they're still one of the most dangerous enemies in the game due to their unpredictable attack patterns. They will briefly aim their swords in the direction they will attack (high, middle or low) and shoot either two or three dark energy vortexes in rapid succession.
Most of the times, their attacks will be aimed toward Nathan's position, but that's not always the case and sometimes they will shoot in any random direction.

Devil Armor[]
It is a deadlier version of the previous enemy; it has exactly the same attack patterns but is much more powerful. It can only be found toward the end of the Battle Arena, in the 15th room.
The primary reason which makes this enemy so dangerous is the fact that they are accompanied by twelve Evil Pillars, which can cause Stone status, allowing it to kill Nathan with just one or two hits of their Darkness energy vortexes. There are only three in the entire game.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]
Shadow Knights are found as a common enemy in the Chaotic Realm. They are the strongest variant of the Great Armor enemies found in the game in terms of attack, but they lack the battery of resistances that the Final Guard has, instead being weak to Holy damage. This means they're substantially easier to kill than the Final Guard in practice.
The Shadow Knight can inflict three kinds of damage types; each of these attacks use 100% of his STR:
- Touching its body or shield causes non-elemental damage.
- Touching its blade causes Sword damage.
- Getting hit by its ground explosion causes Fire damage.
The Shadow Knight almost has the same moveset as the Final Guard, the only move it doesn't have is guarding. The soul it yields is the Guardian Shadow Knight guardian soul, which behaves much like the Creaking Skull, Big Golem and Cagnazzo guardian souls, as it summons a Shadow Knight to attack any enemies who try to damage Soma. It's not as powerful as Creaking Skull, but has a faster attack speed. It covers the same range as Big Golem.
