Sword Knights are an armored type of knights who wield a sword. In some games, the "regular" knight will use a sword instead of a spear. The first armor shown to use a sword was the boss Sir Grakul in Super Castlevania IV, who could also swing an axe. Many of the elemental armors in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon wield swords. Many Final Guards also wield swords.
There is concept art for a sword wielding "Knight" enemy who never made it into Castlevania II: Simon's Quest in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection. He is depicted as a human without heavy armor, but there are instructions to give him heavier armor.
