The Faerie Scroll is a relic that when activated allows the player to see the name of an enemy on the screen when they attack it.
Description[]
The first appearance of this relic took place in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which was also the first game that showed the name of the enemy when it was attacked. It can be found in a small alcove within the large main wing of the Long Library. The names of enemies displayed will only be shown upon the first inflicted hit or first received damage from that enemy. This is more or less a minor way to tell if an attack connects with an enemy or if Alucard can be damaged by said enemy, assuming it is not a hazard instead, as those display no such names. If an enemy name is displayed, that enemy's entry will be added to the Master Librarian's Enemy List, if not already added. In Richter Mode and Maria Mode, this relic is ON by default and cannot be toggled off.
The relic is called Fairy Journal in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, and the Book of Spirits has the same function in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. This ability is always turned on without the need to collect the relic in these games for alternate characters. It is also an ability that is always on in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Castlevania: Order of Shadows.

Trivia[]
- In most games, the enemy name is only shown once upon first hit. The only exception is in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, where the name can be displayed upon each hit.
- In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Dracula during the Richter vs. Dracula intro is the only enemy that does not display a name and is still recorded in the Enemy List.
- In a reverse situation, Yorick's skull is the only enemy to display a name and not have its own entry in the Enemy List.
- In games where these items appear as a relic, it is sometimes advisable to turn them off as the enemy names can block part of the screen.
