Castlevania: Curse of Darkness[]
Innocent Devils will occasionally drop egg-like items called Devil Shards. They can create new Level 1 Innocent Devils with the aid of Julia, through the process of Devil Forging at her shop. Those Innocent Devils will have higher stats compared to their "parents", being a new generation (10% of the parent Devil's stats are added to the new generation Devils). The higher the generation, the higher will be the base stats of the newborn Innocent Devil at Level 1.
The appearance and theme of a Devil Shard is based on the Level 1 Stage, depending on the type of the Innocent Devil that created the shard. Newly forged Innocent Devils will always start at the base evolution form.
The system has a hidden "production" value, which goes up when Hector makes any movement with the associated Innocent Devil being at least Level 2 and active. When the value reaches full, the next enemy kill will cause that Innocent Devil to produce a Devil Shard and reset the production value. The value will become full after 20 minutes of running in total.
Castlevania: Ring of the Heavens[]
Devil Shards appear as a reel symbol in the North American slot game Castlevania: Ring of the Heavens. This symbol includes the shards for the four types of Innocent Devils that did not appear in earlier North American slot games, including a Battle-Type, Bird-Type, Mage-Type, and Devil-Type devil shard.
