Contra and Castlevania are two of Konami's biggest "serious" side scrolling platform franchises. They reference each other from time to time and are sometimes bundled together side by side.

The Arthroverta boss in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is a homage to the Kimkoh enemy found in the Contra series.
