Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[]
Cloaks are the primary Constitution-boosting items in Symphony of the Night. Alucard can always equip a single cloak. Cloaks in this game are one of the few types of equipment that modify the way a character looks. The cloak equipped determines the color of the cloak that Alucard is wearing on his sprite as well as the color scheme of his Bat Form. Cloaks do not give direct DEF bonuses; the defense increases from cloaks are the result of the way CON bonuses affect DEF (see Constitution#Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]
In Harmony of Despair, most characters have a "Back" slot devoted to equipping cloaks. Cloaks generally help protect against the elements (usually Fire and Ice), but can also provide protection against certain types of physical attacks as well (such as Pierce or Cut). They also usually provide an HP, MP and DEF bonus as well.
