A Claymore is the most basic 2-handed Great Sword in Castlevania.

In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, it is the first western slow swinging two handed swords. It is also the first two-handed sword with the thrusting special ability, which can be activated when you press back, then forward+attack. This sword is usually replaced by the Flamberge, which is similar, but has higher attack power.

In Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, it is the base type of Great Sword that can evolve eventually into any other type of Great Sword.
