At the Tokyo Game Show of 2008, a teaser clip was shown for a new Castlevania game that will be designed for the PlayStation 3 and the X-Box 360 home consoles. It featured a short video of Alucard, with red eyes materializing a red flaming sword out of thin air, possibly the Muramasa. The Japanese text means "Embracing darkness with a cursed bloodline. He betrayed his kind & destroyed his father. A bloodstained fate", which could be hinting at Alucard being the main character of the game (all that can be determined is that it is set sometime after the events of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

Status
Edit
It is not known what the status of this game is. It is possible that this game was pitched, but ultimately rejected in favor of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It is also possible that it is being worked on in the background or will be restarted in the future, dependent on Lords of Shadow's success. In an interview on June 2, 2010, Lords of Shadow producer David Cox was asked by GamesTM about this game[1], who indicated that he did not know:
The same year that Lords Of Shadow was announced, Koji Igarashi showed off a trailer at TGS, unveiling a new Castlevania starring Alucard. What happened to that game?
I have no idea. I’m not privy to that kind of information. The way it works inside Konami is that each studio is an independent entity, almost competing against each other. And getting projects greenlit at Konami is, let me tell you, really tough. We got our project greenlit but I don’t know what happened to the others. People have asked if we’ll carry on with the 2D games and I presume we will because we recently released Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth. So I presume there will be other 2D games. But all I’m focusing on is this version of Castlevania. This is the new direction for Castlevania and this is where Konami has chosen to put its backing towards.
