The Bakatwa (Bekatowa in Symphony of the Night) is a traditional African dagger. It appears as a full-sized sword in Castlevania, rather than a dagger. It is mistranslated "Bekatowa" in the English version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and makes a return in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the Bekatowa is the next strongest basic sword after the Broadsword, and not quite as strong as a Damascus Sword. You can first get a tantalizing glimpse of it when you first make it up to the very top of the Outer Wall and venture onto the crumbling bridge to the Clock Tower. It is perched on a pedestal, way just out of reach unless you use the wolf form to jump from it (even with a double jump once obtained), positioned slightly above and between a Shaman Shield and an Ice Mail which are sitting on their own pedestals. You will go through a lot before you are able to reach it with the Form of Bat. If you can't wait until then, you can always challenge the Sword Lord near the bottom of the Outer Wall for his.
