Several different types of Athletes have appeared in the Castlevania series as joke enemies. The first one is the Swimmer, which swims from one end of the "pool" to the other repeatedly in the water stage of Kid Dracula, trying to run into Kid Dracula. Later in the game, a Figure Skater takes the ice and attempts to twirl and kick him.
Skeleton Athletes, and even faster, Skeleton Medalists, would later appear in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon.
