The Abandoned Mine is a location in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. There is very little evidence of this place being a mine (and even less of it being abandoned), save for a few vertical chambers which display doors in the back which may be used to access the deeper and more rewarding regions of the environment. Rocky, mossy, darkened corridors make up the majority of this transition area. The theme music of this area is Abandoned Pit.

GeographyEdit

The Abandoned Mine is first reached after destroying a wooden floor in the Underground Caverns using an Ape Skeleton's exploding barrel, which appears after a switch is hit in the room across from the top of the waterfall, which requires the Form of Bat. The mines themselves are a very short level which travels downwards. It can be exited early to the right to enter a Teleport Room. Continuing downwards leads to a room where the boss Cerberus is fought, which appears to be the entrance to Hades. Beyond this area are the Catacombs. The corresponding level to the Abandoned Mines in the Inverted Castle is the Cave.
